My Mum’s Wholemeal Sultana Loaf

I’m totally missing my Mum today so thought i’d make her wonderfull Wholemeal Sultana Loaf. She used to make this when I was a child. It made the house smell amazing and gave it a big warm hug. It’s tasty, simple to make and fabulous with a cuppa. Enjoy x


  • 40z Wholemeal flour
  • 4oz Golden Caster Sugar
  • 4oz Butter
  • 4 oz Sultanas
  • 2 medium eggs
  • Splash of milk
  • Demerara Sugar for topping


  • Heat oven to 160 c
  • Line a loaf tin with baking parchment
  • Mix all of the indredients (except demerara sugar) until well incorporated
  • Pour into the lined tin
  • Place in the oven and bake for appox 1 hour adding a sprinkle of demerara sugar half way through
