Halloween Cupcakes

22 Oct

Eeekkkkk Halloween is just over a week away & I’m bursting with excitement! I feel like a child in a sweet shop at this time of year…Halloween, Bonfire night & Christmas all within 3 months! I can’t contain myself!

Things I adore about Halloween:
– Pumpkin carving competitions
– Watching old scary movies like the Omen
– Toffee apples
– Fancy dress parties
– Punch

I thought I’d share my Halloween cupcakes with you. Great for a party.
Start with a simple vanilla or chocolate cupcake.
For the mummies cover the top with white fondant icing. Cut strips of white fondant and place on top. I used smarties for eyes.
For the one eyed monster cover your cupcake with blue buttercream. I bought chocolate eyes from the supermarket. The mouth & teeth are made from red and white fondant.

Sparkly Red Velvet Beauties

7 Oct

Don’t you just love it when Mr Postman delivers goodies you totally forgot you ordered! I was super excited when these cake decorating pieces landed on my door mat. A skull mould, edible glitter, red heart sprinkles and edible gold paint! Totally awesome!

What better cupcake to use and make these decorations shine than the red velvet beauty herself.

Pretty little things : )

Great tip when using fondant icing to make decorations is to mix it with a little CMC powder. It makes the icing harden quicker.
