Yay my Christmas Hampers are starting to take shape! Following on from yesterdays post my next homemade item is some wonderful Lavender Handream.
The method I use is from an amazing book called ‘Recipes for Natural Beauty’ by Neals Yard. It’s filled with gorgeous guides to make your own natural beauty products. If you haven’t already got this book you must stick it on your Santa list!
This handcream smells amazing & has a lovely creamy consistency which is great to put on before you go to bed…..when you wake up you’ll have the most wonderful smooth moisturised hands!
What you’ll need
– 8g cocoa butter
– 5g beeswax
– 30ml almond oil
– 45ml rosewater
– 10g emulsifying wax
– 10 drops of Lavender oil (or you can use any essential oil you like)
1. Melt the cocoa butter, beeswax and almond oil in a bowl over hot water.
2. Heat the rosewater slightly and dissolve the emulsifying wax into it.
3. Stir the rosewater/emulsifying wax mix very slowly into the oil mixture. Mix slowly until the cream cools.
4. Add the lavender oil and stir. Put into jars.
5. Hand out as presents and make people smile.
It will keep for about 2months
Remember to keep some for yourself : )
Merry Christmas x
Ok ok I admit I’m an addict. The Make Lounge mesmerised me from the first visit and I just can’t get enough of this craft lovers heaven! (Restraining order is most probably needed)
Last week I skipped along to the Cake Pop workshop taught by the delightful April Carter (cake pop genius) of Rhubarb and Rose. The cake pops themselves were pre made, we had the fun part of decorating them with love and sparkles! April gave some great tips and showed us step by step how to great some amazing designs. My favoriate part was dunking the pops in candy melts…let me just say this stuff is to die for and I’ll throw it out there and say its better than melted chocolate! We left with 6 amazing pops and a full guide on how to make them at home.
Once again a wonderful evening with fabulous people. Here are some of my creations:
When I stumbled across The Make Lounge on Twitter I squealed with excitement! ‘Where have you been’ I thought, this is exactly what I’d been looking for. I couldn’t get myself signed up quick enough and decided to book on the teacup candle workshop.
When I arrived I entered a magical treasure trove of craft!!! My eyes didn’t know where to look and I wanted to put the shop in my pocket and take it home! I was greeted by some lovely staff and after choosing our teacup we sat down & were taken step by step through how to make our candle. Jennifer, who took the course, was awesome and very informative. We got to choose which essential oils we would like our candles to smell of, I chose geranium and lavender for their soothing and calming proprieties. The end result was fantastic, here it is.
The Make Lounge is a rare London gem which I would highly recommend for anyone looking for something fun and quirky to do : )
